Purpose of the Elderly Care Program in this Section;
He stated that Turkey is one of the most developing countries when looking at average life expectancy statistics worldwide. In the First Turkey Aging Report, the biggest rival in the social policies to be implemented by Turkey is that the number and rate of elderly people will increase extremely rapidly in 50 years as demographic changes are constantly developing in favor of the elderly, and as a result of the calculations made, the number of elderly people will increase 3 times in the 2020s and Turkey's largest population in the 21st century. It has been stated that the problem will be social aging.
In this field, the need for intermediate staff who can provide medical and social care services has emerged in order to contribute to reducing the physical, mental and social disabilities of elderly individuals that occur with aging. For this reason, students who will benefit from the program will integrate and internalize the necessary knowledge, skills and values about elderly care services; The main purpose of the program is to ensure that students become competent elderly care technicians who implement and develop elderly care services in public, private and non-governmental organizations. Students who graduate from health vocational high school can choose this program. The elderly care program includes two years of associate degree education.
Purpose of Education;
Training principles of the elderly care program; Knowing the basic characteristics and needs of the elderly and gaining the ability to meet the needs of the elderly accordingly constitute the ability to approach the elderly holistically.
- Nutrition, general body cleansing, movement, appropriate bed position, etc. for elderly individuals. Provides care services to meet basic needs,
- Injections, dressings, wound care, catheter care, etc. to ensure that the elderly person's treatment planned by the physician is implemented. Performs medical interventions and helps administer drug treatments.
- Checks the elderly's daily health indicators such as blood pressure, fever, pulse and respiration,
- Applies first aid rules to elderly individuals in emergency situations.
- Plans, implements and ensures participation in occupational therapy programs for elderly individuals to be socially supported and gain self-confidence,,
- Assists in the implementation of planned programs for the elderly who need social and physical rehabilitation,
- It helps to increase the communication of elderly individuals with each other and with the society,
- Provides guidance to the elderly who are in social and economic deprivation,
- Educates himself on adult psychology.
Employment Areas of Graduates;
Graduates of the program receive the title of "Elderly Care Technician". Graduates; Social Services and Child Protection Institution, where elderly care services are carried out, municipalities, hospitals, nursing homes, nursing homes for the elderly, dormitories for the weak, day centers for the elderly, hospice (elderly care home in the terminal period), applications for the elderly in health units, home care services, home of the elderly. They can work under expert supervision in places such as regulation and protected residences.

Entry Conditions for Vocational Training
- Graduates of vocational high schools' Midwifery, Midwifery-Nursing, Nursing, Laboratory, Laboratory, Laboratory Technician, Health Officer, Veterinary-Laboratory, Patient and Elderly Services, Elderly Services departments can apply for the Elderly Services Care associate degree program without an exam. They can be fitted if they have the required conditions.
- Those who have graduated from departments other than the departments of vocational high schools or general high schools that are designated for transition without examination can be placed in the remaining quotas at the end of placement without examination, according to their wishes and ÖSS scores. For this purpose, these people must take the Student Selection Examination (ÖSS) conducted by ÖSYM and obtain sufficient "Numerical I (SAY-1)" score.
- In order to receive this training and carry out the practices, a medical committee report is required regarding psychological and physical health and ability to perform physical and social performance under all conditions.
Working Environment and Conditions
