LABORATORY USE PROCEDURE

DENTAL PROSTHESIS TECHNOLOGIES PROGRAM APPLICATION COURSES ARE HELD IN OUR COLLEGE DENTAL PROSTHESIS LABORATORY AND FACULTY OF DENTISTRY LABORATORIES AND POLYCLINICS.

 

 

The program is called Prosthodontics, the art and science of replacing one or more missing teeth and related tissues to restore lost function and aesthetics. In this field, scientific and clinical responsibility rests with the dentist, while the responsibility for the laboratory phases rests with the dental technician. Well-trained dental technicians with excellent manual dexterity play a significant role in successful prosthetic treatment. The program aims to train qualified personnel who can assist dentists and conduct laboratory procedures. Graduates of the program receive an Associate's Degree and the title of Health Technician (Dental Prosthodontist) . Dental technicians who graduate from this program have a wide range of employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Dental Prosthesis Technician Job Description:

A dental prosthesis technician is a healthcare professional who has graduated from a university offering associate degree education in dental prosthesis technologies and who conducts or ensures the laboratory studies of removable and fixed dental and jaw prostheses applied to the jaw and face area according to the treatment method planned by the dentist, in order to re-establish lost teeth and their functions.

Duties, Powers and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares a model from mouth measurements taken by the dentist.
  • It enables the shaping of fixed and removable partial dentures on prepared models, their duplication by casting method, and their aesthetic appearance by leveling and polishing, making them suitable for use in the mouth.
  • It is involved in the preparation of removable full and partial dentures, which are suitable for the mouth measurements taken by the dentist when the patient is completely edentulous or partially dented, and in the arrangement of teeth, wax modeling and acrylic procedures.
  • Prepares appliances such as obturators, splints, etc. based on the measurements taken by the dentist.
  • Repairs removable prostheses.
  • The dentist prepares the removable orthodontic appliances that he/she has planned throughout the treatment process.
  • Performs maintenance and simple repairs of the tools used.
